This painting was created in the Summer of 2021. Like many of my paintings, I don’t always know where I’m going with it when I start; I just begin and the journey unfolds through the creative process. I remember feeling I couldn’t do anything else until I completed this painting, and I felt so proud of what I made.
The feeling the imagery gave me was that of a young being going through an initiation or rites of passage. The whole tribe is present, surrounding and encouraging, their songs filling the entire ocean. It was a baptism of love, a sacred eternal moment.
